Seeing Machines Data Collection Statement
Seeing Machines exists to get people home safely by
developing and commercialising driver monitoring system technology and products
applying eye and face tracking technologies. Data collection captures video,
audio and subject metadata (i.e., eye features, age, height, ethnicity etc) to
support the development and improvement of our technologies and products. We
use real human subjects to train our algorithms and develop the most precise
machine-learned solution.
Data Collection Overview
A single participant will sit in the test vehicle and perform a set of activities as instructed by the data collector. The vehicle is equipped with cameras and data capture devices. The data collector will be in the test vehicle during the entirety of the session to help instruct you.
Below, you will find details of the data collection:
Orientation
· Duration: 10 minutes.
· Initial paperwork and basic information collection.
· Brief introduction to the data collection process.
Session Recording
· Setup and Training : 10-15 minutes
· Data collection: 40-50 minutes
· You are expected to perform a set of activities as instructed by the data collector. This will include looking at targets within the vehicle cabin for a few seconds each time.
Overall Duration
Allow up to 1.5 hours
Participant Requirements
• People of any age group can participate, but those aged under 18 must be taller than 150 cm and have a legal guardian present during the session.
• Driver’s license NOT required
• Please bring your own sunglasses or prescribed sunglasses if possible.

You are not eligible to participate if you have previously completed any of these data collections:
- Gaze and Eye tracking data collection in November 2022
- Head and Eye data collection in June 2024
- Gaze Data Collection June 2024,

Eligible Referral Requirements
Existing Pike13 account holders may be eligible to receive a referral payment for referring someone who satisfies one or more of the criteria listed below:
- People with naturally narrow eyes (whether ethnicity, age related or other). Please see examples at bottom of this page.
- Age requirements: 56+ (non Caucasians)
- People of the following ethnic groups:
- Sub-Saharan Africa
- Indigenous Oceania (i.e. Polynesian, Melanesian, Micronesian, Papuan, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander)
- Indigenous Central American or Indigenous South American
Location
Seeing Machines head office: 80 Mildura St, Fyshwick ACT 2609. The main entrance faces onto the car park.
Payment
Each participant will receive a $100 eGift card for
completing the data collection. If you have
been referred and are from one of our referral groups that person is eligible
to receive a $20 eGift card.
Notes
1) You need to arrange your own transport to and from the data collection.
2) Applicants should remain attentive to notifications regarding their booking from Pike13. In the event that we need to modify or cancel your booking due to any technical reasons, we will notify you as soon as we can, and may contact you via the email address and/or contact number that you have listed in your Pike13 account.
Register for the Data Collection
You will need to create and/or login to your Pike13 account before you can book your data collection. We will contact you after booking if we require more information before the data collection.
For participants under the age of 18, guardians can create a Pike13 account and book the session on their behalf.
